Bahia Honda Bridge Fishing Guide | Florida Keys

Bahia Honda is one of the most scenic areas in the Lower Keys, with deep channel water, strong current and the historic bridge dominating the landscape. Fishing is allowed within Bahia Honda State Park subject to current park and Florida fishing regulations, but anglers must use designated legal access and obey all posted restrictions.

Fishing the Bahia Honda Area
Focus on channel edges, current seams and areas where bait is pushed by tidal flow. The old bridge is also a historic landmark and viewing area, so do not assume every section is open for fishing. Follow park signs and staff directions.

Baits and Tackle
Live shrimp, pilchards and pinfish are useful choices. Cut bait can draw larger predators. Medium to medium-heavy tackle works for general fishing, while heavier gear may be needed for large fish in the current.
Fish the Tide
The Bahia Honda channel can move hard. Work baits around current breaks and use enough weight to maintain control. During slower water, reduce sinker weight and use a more natural presentation.
Important Park Rules
All fishing in Bahia Honda State Park must follow current size, bag, method and seasonal regulations. Spearfishing and possession of spearfishing equipment are prohibited within the park. A fishing license may be required.
